Snow in the south

Snowing in Lagos, Rio, Kigali and Dakar. Imagine if people were used to winter in a tropical landscape. How will fashion impact them? How will they incorporate their cultural identity?

Snow in the South it’s an analogy of the diasporic experience of being other in a very white world, where seasons operate a shift in our identities. How we created an alternative fashion aesthetic while preserving our identities in an occidental seasonal way of living. It’s also a testimony of how non-white culture shapes the occidental fashion aesthetic.

This project was created with the intention of discussing the resistance of BIOPOC people living in the Western world, under the supervision of Nicolas Poillot, captured by Yan Miranda. The styling intended to create new forms of shapes, a sense of accumulation and release,a juxtaposition of two different types of designs, of different identities. A series of designs and accessories have been created, a chapka made out of hair and a skirt made out of jean jackets/scarfs.

Danitsa Sycle

As the creative director and stylist, my goal was to embody Danitsa’s journey of self-expression. Through styling choices and visual direction, I crafted an eclectic yet smooth aesthetic that mirrors the album’s tone—capturing the shifts and nuances in her artistic and personal evolution. We worked together to highlight not just the music but also her journey, creating a cohesive visual identity that resonates with authenticity.

The challenge was to create cohesive imagery that moves as quickly and slowly as change. Step by step, we transitionally establish Danitsa's new visual identity  through campaigns, styling, press appearances, 5 single covers, 4 video clips, 1 vinyl, 1 view eyewear campaign,  1 album cd, and media exposure, and worked along various creatives ( director, graphist, social media strategist, stylists, designer, photographer, editors).

Sycle is the story of moving through spaces and emotions as we mature into our true authentic selves. It's about the dawn that morphs into the day and the sunset that fades into the dark. Our lives and selves are in constant mutation; change is inevitable, but the cycle can be repetitive.
